Perhaps the best kept secret at the NC State fairgrounds flea market is the reopening of The Olde Loft. After a few years absence, Julie Rose has brought back to the people of North Carolina her unique displays of primitive country decor, collectibles, pottery, candles and treasures.
In 1984, a tobacco barn from a family friends farm in Rocky Mount was lovingly reconstructed as "The Olde Loft" at the NC State Fairgrounds Flea Market. A long time favorite of flea market shoppers, the structure now proudly stands at its third location. At first glance, many people are happily surprised by the childhood memories of the little country store they had long forgotten! Step in the doorway and immediately the nostalgic scents ,sights and sounds remind one of an earlier time in North Carolina, a rural time, from the Western Mountains to the Eastern Piedmont and the Sea. |
